Spirit of Hong Kong Awards: 27 finalists in the running at annual event for unsung heroes
Awards, which are jointly organised by the Post and Sino Group, will also include two new categories: nurturing and entrepreneurship
Twenty-seven individuals and groups have been selected as finalists for the Spirit of Hong Kong Awards 2024, an annual initiative that celebrates unsung heroes who show exceptional commitment to improving their communities.
The awards, which were established in 2013 and are jointly organised by the Post and the Sino Group, introduced two new categories this year, namely nurturing and entrepreneurship, alongside the existing ones for community, culture, innovation, sustainability, perseverance, teamwork and youth.
Daryl Ng Win-kong, deputy chairman of the Sino Group, praised the finalists for their efforts to make Hong Kong a better place.
“This is the one award that celebrates Hong Kong’s unsung heroes, whose quiet yet extraordinary efforts have made positive differences to the lives of others, and our beloved city a more compassionate and vibrant place,” he said.
Ng said he was glad that awards had more categories and could now cover more amazing work.
“One act of love can inspire many more. Let’s build a better Hong Kong together,” he said.
Judging panel chair Paulo Pong Kin-yee, founder and managing director of Altaya Group, discussed the new award categories.
