Hong Kong lawyer found safe day after wife reported him missing
Police searched for 49-year-old man on Lamma Island after tracing his mobile phone’s last known location
A Hong Kong lawyer who had been missing since Thursday has been found safe, according to sources.
The 49-year-old man was found on Friday following an hours-long search by police, which included a search of Lamma Island, where his phone signal was last detected before he became unreachable.
A source said the force could not provide further details at this point as to where the lawyer was found out of respect for the family’s wishes to keep the matter private.
Authorities were first alerted to his disappearance by his wife on Thursday evening, with police treating the case as a “high-risk missing person” and knocking on doors on the outlying island to ask whether residents had seen him.
The barrister, who lives in Tung Chung on Lantau Island, went to his office in Admiralty on Wednesday morning and later dined with his wife at a restaurant in Wan Chai.
After dinner, he told his wife that he was going to bring his personal belongings back to his office. She returned to their home in Tung Chung.
