What’s on in Hong Kong on National Day? Fireworks, panda-themed deals and free transport

Half-price film tickets, drone shows and free entry to major museums lined up for National Day celebrations

Hongkongers will be able to enjoy shopping vouchers, dining discounts and free rides on public transport as the city marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on October 1.

In addition to special deals at 3,000 eateries, the government on Tuesday also announced that about 400 activities would be held to celebrate National Day, including a fireworks display, drone shows and car parades.

Entertainment

  • A National Day fireworks display will light up Victoria Harbour at 9pm on October 1.

  • Half-price tickets in cinemas across Hong Kong. Customers can also get vouchers for popcorn and beverages.

  • Free admission to permanent exhibitions at the Hong Kong Science Museum and the Hong Kong Space Museum, as well as the special exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of Art.

  • Free access to sporting facilities managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

  • Free entry at the Hong Kong Wetland Park.

  • Free entry to a sports-themed carnival at Sai Sha Go Park, where visitors can try activities such as fencing and rock climbing.
