Organisers have expressed hope the annual Hong Kong Food Expo will encourage more residents and Greater Bay Area visitors to spend in the city, while vendors have said they will be satisfied if it can help them survive amid a weak retail environment.

The five-day show is set to take place from August 15 to 19 at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai and will be held in tandem with four other fairs, including the Beauty and Wellness Expo and Home Delights Expo.

Food Expo Pro, geared towards industry insiders, and a Tea Fair will both run from August 15 to 17.

The Trade Development Council (TDC), the expo organiser, said on Tuesday that around 1,840 exhibitors would join the five fairs.

A two-day International Conference of the Modernisation of Chinese Medicine and Health Products will also be held from August 15.
