An industrial rights organisation said the 57-year-old worker had fallen at least 10 floors from the Wah Chun Industrial Centre in Tsuen Wan when installing an air conditioner.

“Scaffolding was not ready at the time,” said Fay Siu Sin-man, chief executive of the Association for the Rights of Industrial Accident Victims.

A source familiar with the case said a preliminary investigation showed the fall was an accident and the circumstances were not suspicious.

“The cause of his death cannot be determined until an autopsy is conducted,” the insider said. “Although the deceased was wearing a safety belt, it was not buckled and secured to any fixtures.”
