Residents evacuated after fire in Hong Kong Mid-Levels apartment spreads to unit 12 floors below
Burning debris from the 24th-floor flat in Roc Ye Court on Robinson Road falls into lower unit and ignites second blaze
About 70 residents were evacuated from their homes in Mid-Levels, Central on Wednesday night after a fire started in one unit and sent burning debris to another apartment 12 levels below.
The blaze started in a unit on the 24th floor at Roc Ye Court on Robinson Road. Burning debris soon fell into another unit on the 12th floor and ignited objects inside.
Some of the nearby streets were closed as a fire engine and an ambulance were called in to fight the blaze.

It took about an hour for firefighters to extinguish the flames.
No one was injured in the fire.
A Fire Services Department spokesman said initial investigations showed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Our investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing,” the spokesman added.
