One man was killed and two foreign women injured - one of them seriously - in road accidents across the city last night.

In Aberdeen Street, Central, a black Mercedes driven by what witnesses described as a 'young' male driver, careered out of control and ploughed into two foreign women - both 30 and thought to be from the UK, sending one of them flying into the air before crashing into a shop front.

A man, 23, who was crossing the road beside the two women, narrowly missed being hit.

“I was walking along Aberdeen Street and saw two middle-aged blonde women crossing Hollywood Road, walking towards the Soho area. Suddenly I heard a tyre screeching and people screaming. Then I saw a black Mercedes speeding down Aberdeen Street." he said.

"As you know Aberdeen Street is very steep. I immediately ran and hid behind a pillar. The two ladies were hit by the car. One of them went straight into the air and was flung perhaps ten metres. The other spun off in the other direction,” said the witness, who did not want to be named.

“One of the ladies got up but the other was just lying on the ground and not moving. A door of the black Mercedes was open. There was a young Asian man with a young woman. He did not seem very steady. The cops took him away.”
