Three flats in Cambo Mansion in To Kwa Wan were burgled on Saturday night.

One of the flat owners, surnamed Fung, reported that a safe containing HK$800,000 in cash and gold had been stolen.

“The entire safe was taken,” said the 65-year-old contractor, who bought the flat five years ago. “I had cash and gold inside the safe. I lost a total of HK$800,000, including HK$50,000 to HK$60,000 worth of gold.”

Asked why he did not put the cash in a bank, Fung said: “I don’t believe in banks.”
