Pair who threw eggs at Hong Kong activist Joshua Wong in anti-Occupy Central protest fined HK$3,000 each
Pair argued that the activities of Scholarism convenor had affected the transport sector
Two men were slapped with a HK$3,000 fine each at Kowloon City Court yesterday for throwing eggs at Scholarism convenor Joshua Wong Chi-fung outside the same court building last year.
Both were transport workers at the time.
Passing sentence, Magistrate Dr Eric Cheung Kwan-ming said: "Launching an attack outside a court building is an aggravating factor, but heavy fines will be enough to reflect the seriousness of the offences."
The magistrate fined Li an additional HK$1,500 for breaching a good behaviour bond that was in effect at the time he committed the latest offence on November 27.
Neither defendant was represented by lawyers yesterday. Li is now a dim sum chef, while Cheung works in logistics.
