Robbers hold man at knifepoint in luxury Sai Kung home
Gang takes HK$70,000 in raid near home of Bossini heiress after recent lull in burglaries
Three masked robbers tied up a 24-year-old man at knifepoint and escaped with HK$70,000 in cash and valuables from a luxury Sai Kung house in a predawn raid yesterday, near the home of a fashion chain heiress held by 8kidnappers in late April.
The victim’s parents and his friend remained undisturbed throughout the intruders’ one-hour search of the three-storey house off Clear Water Bay Road, according to police sources close to the investigation.
And a foreign domestic helper who was sleeping in an unattached shed in the big garden was also unaware of the robbery, until the victim ran out of the house and woke her up to untie his hands.
Luxury houses along an 8km stretch of Clear Water Bay Road from Tseung Kwan O to Fei Ngo Shan Road have been targeted by burglars. But a police source said that since the kidnapping of Bossini heiress Queenie Law, Sai Kung had reported fewer burglaries, with only one case over the past six weeks apart from the latest break-in.
Yesterday’s raid on the upscale residence occurred at about 3am, according to police. “The burglars climbed into the Air House, entered a second-floor bedroom, woke up one of the occupants and tied him up,” another source said.
Wearing silk stockings over their heads, masks and gloves, the Cantonese-speaking trio took a laptop computer, a tablet computer, a snuff bottle and about 3,000 yuan (HK$3,790) in cash.
