Police said they received a call just before 12.30pm on Thursday that a trolley had caught fire on Tai Pak Tin Lane in Kwai Chung, near the entrance of the Shek Lei St. John’s Catholic Primary School.

The fire that engulfed the trolley sent plumes of heavy smoke into the surrounding air.

Thirteen girls and seven boys were sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung and Yan Chai Hospital in Tsuen Wan to be treated for smoke inhalation.

All the children were conscious as they were sent for treatment, according to police.
