Victim and assailant knew each other and had previously been in disagreement over woman, source says
A young man who died after being attacked outside a public housing estate in Hong Kong was repeatedly stabbed in the chest and knew his assailant, the Post has learned.
Police were still searching for the suspect as of 6pm on Friday.
The force said it received a report from a security guard at Po Tin Estate in Tuen Mun on Thursday night that the victim, 33, was found lying unconscious on the ground outside the entrance of block seven.
The victim was taken to Tuen Mun Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11.55pm. An autopsy will be conducted to confirm the cause of death.
Information about the suspect was not immediately available, but according to a source the victim had previously had a conflict with him over issues involving a woman. They were both drug users, according to the insider.
The source said the suspect approached the victim after he left the building and “repeatedly used a sharp object to stab him in the chest”.
