Male student at University of Hong Kong arrested on suspicion of voyeurism
Student allegedly followed girl into bathroom and filmed her from under the stall
A male student at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) has been arrested on suspicion of videotaping a female schoolmate while she was using a toilet in a dormitory.
The victim, 22, was said to have digestive issues and had to use a male toilet at Swire Hall on Bonham Road in Pok Fu Lam at 4pm on Thursday when the suspect allegedly videotaped her from under the cubicle with a phone, a police source said.
Built in 1978, Swire Hall is the first generation of HKU residential halls built as a multi-storey building, which divides hallmates by floors.
After the woman discovered she was being filmed, she and her boyfriend, who is also a resident in the hall and was nearby at the time, stopped the suspect as he left the toilet.
Several clips and pictures of the woman in the cubicle were allegedly found on the suspect’s phone. He immediately deleted them, the source said.
The woman was said to have been visiting her boyfriend and they did not know the suspect, aged 19
