Yacht rental agent Lam Shun, 41, and jobless Irene Pun Hau-yin, 29, pleaded not guilty in Kowloon City Court on Wednesday to a joint count of conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice.

They were alleged to have assisted Alex Kwong Kong-chi, 29, in his bid to escape Hong Kong on February 25 last year, a day after the dismembered remains of 28-year-old Choi were discovered in a three-storey village house in Tai Po’s Lung Mei Tsuen.

Lam was said to have organised for Kwong to flee to Macau for HK$300,000 (US$38,300). But the ex-husband was caught at Tung Chung Development Pier at about 1pm.

Prosecutors told Acting Principal Magistrate Ko Wai-hung that three or four officers would deliver testimony about the background of the case.
