Hong Kong driver arrested after vehicle hits 19-year-old woman, who later dies
Police have arrested man on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death after woman struck while crossing road in Yuen Long
A 30-year-old Hongkonger has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after his Tesla car struck a 19-year-old woman, who later died from her injuries.
Police said the vehicle hit the pedestrian as she was crossing On Lok Road in Yuen Long on Thursday at around 8.05am.
The woman, who was of non-Chinese ethnicity, was taken unconscious to Pok Oi Hospital in Yuen Long and later transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital, where she underwent surgery.
A hospital spokesman said the woman died at 2.06pm.
The driver of the Tesla Model Y, a 30-year-old man surnamed Auyeung, did not suffer any injuries.
He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for inquiries.
