Pik Uk Prison officer, 50, suffered multiple knife wounds, source says
Police are hunting for three knife-wielding men who attacked a Hong Kong prison officer after he left work on Friday.
The officer, 50, suffered multiple knife wounds to his head, forehead and right elbow, a source said.
The Correctional Services Department said it was deeply concerned about the case and strongly condemned the perpetrators.
“[On Friday] afternoon, an assistant officer stationed at Pik Uk Prison was attacked by several assailants, who were wielding knives, when he was getting off work. The attacked staff member was later taken to hospital for treatment, and is in a stable condition,” a department spokesman said.
“The department is deeply concerned about the incident and strongly condemns the perpetrators’ lawless behaviour.”
He said department staff were providing help to the officer and his family.
The victim had left work at the prison in Sai Kung when he was attacked by three men who got out of a white car as he approached a minibus stop at 12.48pm, the insider said.
