A Hong Kong taxi driver and his passenger escaped serious injury when he lost control of his vehicle, collided with concrete barriers and slammed into a lamp post on a busy main road.
Dashcam footage showed the taxi switching lanes on the Kwun Tong-bound Lung Cheung Road in Wong Tai Sin before crashing at around midday on Thursday.
The taxi could be seen veering right on the three-lane road before drifting back to the left-hand side, colliding with the concrete barriers and continuing for a short distance before hitting a lamp post and coming to stop.
The lamp post snapped and fell, narrowly missing the vehicle recording the dashcam footage.
A police spokesman said the 61-year-old taxi driver had passed a breathalyser test and complained of chest pain. His passenger, a 29-year-old woman, suffered an injury to her nose.
Both were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei for treatment.


Officers from the Kowloon East traffic unit are following up on the case. No arrests have been made.
In a separate case, police arrested the 50-year-old driver of a tourist bus on suspicion of dangerous driving after the vehicle hit and killed a male pedestrian in Yau Ma Tei at around 12.05pm.
Emergency personnel were called after the victim, 51, was knocked down by the vehicle outside a primary school. The man was taken to Kwong Wah Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Kowloon West traffic unit is investigating.
The number of people killed or seriously injured in traffic accidents across the city dropped by 39.4 per cent to 478 in the first seven months of this year from 790 in the same period in 2023.
