Hong Kong police are on the hunt for two suspects in connection with a knife attack on a 52-year-old man in Kowloon during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The force said the victim, a man surnamed Siu, sustained injuries to his nose and hands after he was attacked near Pau Chung Street in To Kwa Wan.

A friend of Siu contacted police at around 1.30am, but the two assailants had fled the scene by the time officers arrived.

The motive for the attack was not immediately clear.

Investigators have cordoned off part of the street and a recreation centre after reportedly discovering blood stains dotted across 60 metres (197 feet).

Police said they were looking for two non-ethnic Chinese men in connection with the attack.

Officers from the Kowloon City district crime squad are following up on the case, which has been classified as a wounding.
