- Alex Kwong already remanded in custody in connection with murder of ex-wife Abby Choi
- Kwong was charged with seven counts of theft involving alleged stealing of items between May 2013 and January 2015
Alex Kwong Kong-chi, 28, appeared in the District Court on Tuesday without any legal representation. He was already remanded in custody in connection with the murder of the socialite.
Kwong was charged with seven counts of theft over the alleged stealing of 39 necklaces, 32 bracelets, 13 gold bars, 102 gold grains, six pendants and 10 taels of gold across separate incidents between May 2013 and January 2015.
The prosecution in the theft case on Tuesday applied for a 10-week adjournment for police to further re-examine and process evidence spanning the past seven and a half years.
The prosecutor said he was considering adding a new charge in relation to Kwong jumping bail. Charges would be amended in accordance with police’s review of the evidence, he added.
Kwong told the court he had withdrawn his application to seek legal aid and had already hired a lawyer, but documents from the relevant department had not been sent to his counsel.
