Super Typhoon Kong-rey: airlines in Hong Kong cancel at least 24 flights
Cathay Pacific, its budget arm HK Express and Greater Bay Airlines cancel Taiwan flights as typhoon approaches island
At least 24 flights between Hong Kong and Taiwan have been cancelled due to approaching Super Typhoon Kong-rey, which is expected to be 500km from the city later this week.
According to the Hong Kong Observatory, Kong-rey will move towards Taiwan on Wednesday and pass over the island’s central and southern parts on Thursday. It will come within 800km of Hong Kong on Thursday morning and be 500km from the city in the next couple of days.
While the Observatory said the super typhoon would not have a severe impact on Hong Kong, air travel has been disrupted.
Cathay said it had informed affected passengers about rescheduling their flights.
