The Hong Kong Observatory attributed the cool weather along the coast of Guangdong province to a “strong” northeast monsoon affecting the area with a broad band of clouds covering the coast of southern China.

“Locally, the minimum temperature recorded at the Observatory this morning was 13.8 degrees, the lowest so far this winter, and temperatures were generally a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories,” it said.

The weather on Saturday is mainly cloudy and dry, while staying cool in the morning and at night with sunny intervals during the day.

The Observatory also said the weather would remain cool and windy with a minimum temperature of around 13 degrees on Sunday in urban areas and a few degrees lower in the New Territories.
