Hong Kong should brace for another strong storm early this week, the city’s forecaster has said shortly after cancelling the No 1 warning signal for Typhoon Yinxing on Sunday.

But another No 1 warning signal was expected to be issued between late Monday and early Tuesday as Severe Tropical Storm Toraji entered within 800km of Hong Kong, the Observatory said on Sunday.

The storm is currently east of Luzon in the Philippines

“Toraji is expected to move across the central and northern parts of the South China Sea towards the coast of western Guangdong,” the Observatory said.

But the forecaster said there were uncertainties in Toraji’s movement and intensity as the storm might approach the vicinity of the Pearl River Delta but also weaken at the same time.

The weather is expected to become unsettled on Wednesday and Thursday, with a few squally showers.
