Hong Kong authorities have put down a 1.2-metre (4 foot) wild boar after it bit a florist who tried to drag the animal out of his shop by its ears.

But the actions of the man and authorities were questioned on Saturday by a wild boar concern group for going against the advice of the city’s conservation department, which said it had “deep concerns” about the incident and reminded people to keep well clear of the animals.
A video posted by media outlets showed the boar was at first inside another flower shop, but the animal forced its way past a police officer’s shield and ran into the second florist’s store where the shopkeeper was injured.
The man, in his forties, charged the boar with a stick when it attempted to get inside the shop.
He grabbed the animal by its ears and managed to drag it outside. Another police officer hit the boar over the head with his baton and tried to cover it with a flower bucket.
