Stargazing Hongkongers’ hopes of watching cosmic fireworks on Monday night could be washed away as wet weather is forecast for the early part of the week.

The Hong Kong Observatory said there would be occasional showers and a few squally thunderstorms from Monday to Thursday as a trough of low pressure was affecting Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea.

Temperatures will range from 20 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees.

But skies will brighten up later in the week.

“As the trough of low pressure departs from the coastal areas later this week, showers will ease off and the weather will improve over the region,” the Observatory said on Sunday.
