Another Hong Kong airport worker confirmed as having measles, bringing year’s infection figures to 56
- The 30-year-old man, who worked at a restaurant in Terminal 2, developed fever on Thursday and rash the following day
One more airport staff member was confirmed to be infected with measles on Sunday, bringing the total number of people affected by the contagious disease in Hong Kong this year to 56.
The latest case was a 30-year-old man who worked in Viet’s Choice, a restaurant in Terminal 2 of Hong Kong International Airport.
The 56 measles cases recorded so far this year have been nearly four times the 15 cases in the whole of last year. Of them, 26 involved airport or airline personnel.
Hong Kong’s Centre for Health Protection said the latest man, who had good past health, developed fever on Thursday and rash the next day.
He visited a private doctor on Thursday and the accident and emergency department of North Lantau Hospital the same day. On Friday, he was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung for treatment.
