Hong Kong gets 50th measles case for the year so far, already setting a five-year record

Seven more people were found to be infected with measles on Thursday, bringing the total number of cases in Hong Kong this year to 50 – setting a five-year record for an annual infection count by early April.
Two of the new patients had received three doses of the measles vaccine, according to the Centre for Health Protection.
The seven new cases – five men and two women between 11 months old and 31 years old – meant this year’s running total was tied with the total for all of 2014, and closing in on the record of 68 in 2008.
Of the 50 patients, 23 worked at Hong Kong International Airport.
Among the new patients, two worked at the airport, while some had travelled to Shenzhen in mainland China, Vietnam, Taiwan and Japan during the incubation period.
One new case was a 23-year-old airport worker. He had received three doses of the measles vaccine, the latest on March 29, a week after authorities declared the outbreak at the airport.
