Another Ikea recall: 4 more chocolate products taken off shelves over inadequate labelling
Packaging did not properly declare ingredients such as almonds and hazelnuts that are unsuitable for those with nut allergies; this follows June recall of 2 chocolate bars
Ikea is widening its recall of consumable products to include four more chocolate items, again over inadequate labelling - this time of almonds and hazelnuts.
They include ChokladLjus Utz 100g, Choklad Not Utz 100g, Godis Chokladkrokant 450g and Chokladkrokant Bredbar 400g.
The home accessories company has confirmed the chocolates do not properly declare ingredients that are not suitable for those with nut allergies. The labels currently only state they “may contain” almonds or hazelnuts, which is “misleading” and “therefore not interpreted as compliant with legislation”, Ikea said.
It added that though the products are not suitable for anyone with an almond or hazelnut allergy or sensitivity, they are safe for those without allergies.
The presence of almonds and hazelnuts has been frequently detected in the chocolates. Based on Ikea’s safety standards, the company said it is recalling the products globally and not just in Hong Kong, “irrespective of various legislations in our markets”.
