Confirming the Post’s earlier report, the council said three sessions would be arranged for Lo to meet students, staff and alumni of CUHK on Thursday, followed by a council’s special meeting on Friday to consider the recommendation made by the search committee.

In an email titled “Search for the Next Vice-Chancellor – Engagement Session” seen by the Post, Amelia Wong, secretary of the CUHK’s council, said Lo was recommended by the committee to be appointed as the university’s vice-chancellor.

“Professor Lo is a renowned scholar with outstanding academic and research accomplishments,” she wrote.

If the recommendation for the appointment is accepted, Lo will succeed Professor Rocky Tuan Sung-chi as president and vice-chancellor from January.

Tuan, who was embroiled in controversy in the wake of the 2019 anti-government protests, handed in his resignation a week into a new three-year term in January, citing personal reasons.
