Hong Kong molecular geneticist Dennis Lo endorsed by CUHK committee to be next president
Confirming Post’s earlier report, varsity’s council says it has arranged for Professor Lo to meet students, staff and alumni on Thursday
In an email titled “Search for the Next Vice-Chancellor – Engagement Session” seen by the Post, Amelia Wong, secretary of the CUHK’s council, said Lo was recommended by the committee to be appointed as the university’s vice-chancellor.
“Professor Lo is a renowned scholar with outstanding academic and research accomplishments,” she wrote.
If the recommendation for the appointment is accepted, Lo will succeed Professor Rocky Tuan Sung-chi as president and vice-chancellor from January.
Tuan, who was embroiled in controversy in the wake of the 2019 anti-government protests, handed in his resignation a week into a new three-year term in January, citing personal reasons.
