Angel Tsui Yan-ki of Good Hope School was one of the two students who performed well this year. She obtained a 5** in the mathematics extended part, on top of getting the highest scores on seven other subjects. The teenager said she was even surprised at the good results.

“I didn’t expect to get 5** on Chinese and liberal studies because I’ve always received only average scores for the two subjects in school,” she said. Tsui hopes to be accepted to the University of Hong Kong to study business and law.

Both top scoring students from Queen’s College, Tsang Ka-hing and Christopher Chan Wang-hei, agreed that Chinese was the most challenging subject because it is hard to fully understand the criteria to do well in the oral and writing examination paper.
