Collector lends James Bond memorabilia to Hong Kong exhibition

To mark the 50th anniversary of the first James Bond movie, various collector items are on display at a shopping mall in Causeway Bay, including a limited-edition watch, photo books, James Bond figures, toy guns and Bond-themed toiletries. Roger Wu Wai-chung, a collector who has lent over 100 items from his personal collection for this exhibition, says the spy film series had a great impact on him as a child. 

"For myself and many others, James Bond movies offer excitement that you cannot find in real life. It's a world of high-tech gadgets, world-saving adventures, and of course, sexy women," says the avid fan who started collecting related memorabilia in the 1970s, and is currently a member of the UK James Bond Fan Club.

A Thailand-based travel writer, Wu recently purchased a two-story home in the country to house about 5,000 items of his James Bond collection, parts of which were shipped to Hong Kong for the "wtc more BOND 50" exhibition.

50 years after (1962), the first James Bond movie debuted, the latest sequel will open in local cinemas starting on 1 November 2012.
