One person was injured after an explosion in a Chinese residential building on Wednesday night, mainland media reported.
The blast occurred shortly before 9pm in a second-floor flat in Kongjiang Road, near Fudan University, in Shanghai’s Yangpu district, the news website Thepaper.cn reported.

The explosion, believed to have been triggered by a natural gas leak inside the flat, caused the facade of the second and third floors of the building to collapse.
Police have cordoned off the area and the building evacuated, with the residents found shelter at a hotel nearby.
The resident hurt in the blast was taken to hospital for treatment, but the injuries were not life-threatening, the report said.
A woman living below the flat where the blast took place told ThePaper.cn that she was getting ready for bed when she felt her home shuddering violently.

Debris from her ceiling then started to fall on her, she said. In her rush to escape, she put on her husband’s trousers before running outside.
She said a family of five lived in the flat where the blast occurred, but only a child and the youngster’s grandparents were home at the time. The child’s parents were away at the time.
