Chinese nurse killed as she is hit by truck after stopping to help people injured in road accident

A 23-year-old Chinese nurse died after being hit by a truck after she stopped her car on a highway to help people who had been injured in a traffic accident, mainland media reports.

The nurse, Wang Lijun, who worked in Panzhihua, was killed on Tuesday evening, after she and her colleague stopped to treat people hurt in the earlier crash on a highway in Sichuan, Chengdu Business Daily reported.

She was hit by a truck passing the crash scene as she was helping people on the roadside.

A total of nine people were injured in the two separate accidents. They are still receiving treatment at a nearby hospital, the report said.

The first accident occurred when a car struck the highway’s central reservation after the driver swerved to avoid hitting a goat that had wandered across the road. Other vehicles then collided with the car.
