Express delivery firm in dispute with customer over ‘missing 300,000-yuan diamond jewellery’
A popular express delivery company in China is involved in a wrangle with a customer over claims that diamond jewellery worth 300,000 yuan (HK$360,000) inside a parcel have gone missing, mainland media reports.
SF Express has offered to pay compensation of only 20,000 yuan to the woman, China Business View reported on Thursday.
The woman, identified by her surname of Ji, claimed that in February she paid SF Express to deliver her diamond ring and pendant from Xian, in Shaanxi province, to the southern city of Shenzhen, in Guangdong province.
However, two days later, the company contacted her to say that the contents of her package were missing, the report said.

Ji claimed that together the diamond ring and pendant were valued at 300,000 yuan.
However, SF Express disagreed with Ji’s claim, saying that Ji had written on the parcel at the time it was sent that the contents were valued at 5,000 yuan.
