Doctor forced to kneel, burn offerings after baby's death at Shenzhen hospital
Police detain 12 people over the incident, which also involved medical staff being physically abused
A doctor from a southern Chinese city was forced to kneel down and burn offerings of joss papers by the angry relatives of a dead child he had been treating for a chest infection.
Police from Longgang district in Shenzhen said they had detained 12 people at Pinghu People’s Hospital in the city in Guangdong province on Monday after they reportedly pushed and hit medical staff at the hospital.
A social media post by Longgang police also confirmed they were investigating the matter
The child had been transferred there from Pinghu People’s Hospital after his condition had worsened.
The family and relatives of the boy then went to the foyer of Pinghu People’s Hospital on Monday to burn joss papers as offerings.
