Yang Shili, founder of Fu Yi Yi Delicacies, saw her income increase a hundred-fold within two years after she started promoting her dishes on Weibo and delivering them to wealthy residents in Changsha, capital of Hunan province, the Sanxiang City Express reports.

According to the report, Yang dropped out of school in 2013 and worked in a bar in the city at night. But her true passion is cooking, and Yang spent her daytime hours preparing dishes for relatives and friends, who encouraged her to set up in business.

She started off by selling spiced eggs at 5 yuan each through Weibo, where she soon realised she should target well-healed foodies.

“My customers on Weibo are mostly well off, they have high demands for quality food and are willing to pay for it,” Yang told the Express.
