Chinese taxi driver weeps after hitting Maserati
Fender-bender with luxury vehicle could cost the worker hundreds of thousands of yuan
The taxi driver admitted she had made a reckless turn in Shenyang’s Tiexi district on Saturday afternoon and hit the white luxury Italian car, the Shenyang Daily said.
The Maserati driver, a man in his 30s, told the woman her insurance coverage of 300,000 yuan (HK$380,200) would not be enough to pay for the repairs.
Photos accompanying the report showed the woman covering her face with her hands and crying, looking stunned. Other pictures showed damage to the Maserati’s headlamp, although the rest of the car seemed unscathed. The bumper on the taxi had fallen off.
Neither driver spoke to the reporter, but an onlooker said the taxi driver admitted she was in the wrong. They went to a police station to settle the affair, the report said.
A Lamborghini was wrecked last month during a 160km/h illegal road race with a Ferrari along the streets of Beijing. The drivers were detained.
