Driver detained after children injured in car crash outside Chinese primary school
None of those injured when an SUV ploughed into a crowd outside the school in Hunan province are said to be in a life-threatening condition
A motorist has been detained by police after a car crashed into a group of parents and children outside a primary school in the central Chinese province of Hunan.
Police in the city of Changde said the incident happened at around 7.35am on Tuesday.
State news agency Xinhua reported that several pupils had been injured in the incident but there has been no word on the number of casualties.
Police said the injured were receiving treatment and none were in a life-threatening condition.
The suspect was a 39-year-old man surnamed Huang, police said.
The driver was reportedly apprehended by parents and school guards after the white SUV rammed into the crowds outside the school.
