Zero Covid: China’s premier pledges future strategy will protect lives and supply chain

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has defended China’s zero-Covid response while pledging a more “scientific and targeted” approach to ensure a stable global supply chain.

Asked at what is expected to be his last press conference as premier about whether China had a road map to reopen to the world, Li said China would base its Covid-19 control and prevention on science to protect people’s lives and health, as well as ensure the security of the supply chain.

“I have spoken on many occasions with the international business community, multinational corporation executives and business leaders who expressed the hope of keeping the business exchanges as needed,” he said.

“China has opened fast-track lanes and green corridors to ensure the normal running of companies and important projects in key areas.

“We will continue to gain experience and be adaptive to new developments to keep an orderly and smooth flow of goods and personnel.”
