The visit, which will also include a stop in Shanghai for a bilateral business forum, comes as the two nations step up diplomatic efforts for talks over the war in Ukraine.
Chinese special envoy Li Hui is continuing a European tour this week after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv to discuss conditions for peace talks. The Ukrainian leader, meanwhile, is set to attend the Group of Seven summit in person in the Japanese city of Hiroshima on Sunday.
Mishustin’s trip to China was announced by Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, but Russian news agency TASS added that the prime minister would also meet Xi in Beijing during the two-day visit.
Wang made no mention of the war in Ukraine in his statement, but said the two countries would exchange views on “bilateral relations, practical cooperation and issues of mutual interest”.

“We hope that through his visit, [we can] strengthen bilateral cooperation, deepen regional and people exchanges, and inject momentum into global economic recovery,” Wang said.
