The American man being pursued by authorities for leaking data on thousands of people with HIV is a “pathological liar”, the Singapore government said on Wednesday, as it shot down Mikhy Farrera Brochez’s new allegations of abuse and denial of medical treatment while imprisoned in the city state.

Brochez, who was deported from Singapore in April after completing his jail term, claimed in a series of Facebook posts on Wednesday morning that he had been tortured by Singapore police and gang-raped by inmates who gave him HIV.

He said he reported the rape to the commanding officer of his prison block and was told “well, you’re gay you should enjoy it”.

Officers from the attorney general’s chambers also “kept interfering” with his medical treatment, said Brochez, who is now back in the United States and reportedly living out of his car. Brochez also said he had not stolen the data nor leaked it but had repeatedly provided evidence to various government agencies “seeking help with the data leak”.

In two separate statements on Wednesday, Singapore’s health and law enforcement authorities insisted Brochez’s allegations were false or unsubstantiated with evidence.
