In an era of economic depression, it is more important than ever that academia and big businesses come together in support of the unemployed and the revitalisation of the economy.
One way of injecting new life into business and industry is by supporting entrepreneurship. IESE Business School, University of Navarra, has an array of programmes to do that.
The business school, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, aims to develop leaders who will have a “deep, positive and lasting impact on people, firms and society”, and inspiring them to perform in a spirit of service, integrity and accountability.
As part of this effort, the university supports entrepreneurship to boost job and wealth creation. It has a venture capital fund, Finaves, which so far has helped to create 30 start-ups and 1,500 jobs, and a business angel network which has invested 18.3 million euros in 700 projects in the past 10 years, creating another 2,000 jobs.
The Summer Entrepreneurship Boot Camp is organise for students interested in developing a business plan for a potential start-up.
IESE also wants to encourage their students to become leaders who have a positive influence on society and who use a people-centred approach to business, creating sustainable prosperity.
