Have fun: Macau tempts visitors with a range of entertainment for all the family
The city has plenty of cultural and educational activities to offer for families seeking more than an adrenaline rush
Macau is a great destination for people who are looking for an adrenaline rush. But the city, which has been diversifying its entertainment and leisure features over recent years, has so much more to offer. There are now plenty of things to do for families who want to spend some fun-filled – or even educational – time together.
Macau Science Centre
Located on the harbourfront of the Macau peninsula, the 20,000-square metre Macau Science Centreprovides a playful setting where parents and their children can explore and learnabout science. With its futuristic architecture, designed by Ieoh Ming Pei, the centre was chosen as a location for the Hollywood film Now You See Me 2.
The centre hosts a series of permanent exhibitions at 12 of its 14 galleries. At present, special exhibition “Think Brick – Play and Learn with Lego Education” is running in Gallery 2 until January 14, 2018. The exhibition features the “Little Brick Kingdom” fun zone (for young children below 120cm), and the “Giant Lego Brick Wall”, where children can build structures from giant toy bricks, and over 30 mechanical models designed and built by the centre’s own team. It also features “Fun 3D Zoetrope” and “Interactive Classrooms”, where young participants can acquire some basic knowledge of physics and engineering through building and programming a robot using the interlocking plastic bricks.
