Created in collaboration with Finnish watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva, the MoonMachine 2 plays on optical illusion
Swiss brand MB&F has collaborated with independent Finnish watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva for the second time to unveil the world’s first projected moonphase display, the MoonMachine 2.
Based on the case shape of the 2016 Horological Machine No 8 and the heads-up display from the Horological Machine No 5, the wristwatch features a moonphase complication along with the jumping hours and wandering minutes using an optical prism.

Stepan has created his smallest moons ever – a technical challenge due to their extreme dimensions, as thin as 0.07mm.
When you glance at the time on the lateral display, you are looking at a projected image of the hour, minute and moonphase discs. It’s like an optical illusion.
The timepiece is available in three limited editions – a full titanium case with a white gold moon against a light-blue sky, a black titanium case with a white gold moon against a dark-blue sky as well as a red gold and titanium case with a red gold moon against an anthracite sky. Each model is limited to 12 pieces.
