Jaquet Droz’s Signing Machine saves time and energy
The complicated automaton reproduces unique and personal signatures
WHAT: JAQUET DROZ’S SIGNING MACHINE
HOW MUCH: HK$3.83 MILLION
WHY: Tired of signing the huge stack of documents on your desk when you have other more important things to do? Jaquet Droz’s Signing Machine is your best solution. The Signing Machine, first launched in 2014, was unveiled at Baselworld this year. The automaton’s movement has been reworked for fluidity to help with perfect and more consistent signatures.
It now displays the power reserve, allowing it to complete two full signatures before having to be wound by a lever located on the side of the machine. Together, 585 parts operate within an extremely complex mechanism entirely assembled and finished by hand. The programming of the signature – or the mechanical coding of its imprint over three cams – is also carried out by hand.
The signature reproduced by the machine is unique and personal. It can only be activated by unlocking a four-digit code set by the user, who also selects most of the decorative elements of his or her machine.
The portable piece, polished and satin-brushed, and completed with hand-engraved 18ct red gold, comes with a leather pouch. You can bring it with you wherever you go, so it’s perfect for jetsetters.
The decorative inserts are also hand-engraved in 18ct red gold. The stainless steel pen, hand-polished and satin-brushed, is refillable in black or blue ink. The Signing Machine can be custom-made to order.
