Director Lulu Wang’s anticipated TV series Expats, based on the internationally bestselling novel The Expatriates by Janice Y.K. Lee, just made its debut at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) on September 8. The festival hosted the world premiere for the show’s penultimate episode “Central”.
Set in Hong Kong in 2014 amid the protests, the six-part show follows the lives of three American women – Margaret (Nicole Kidman), Hilary (Sarayu Blue) and Mercy (Ji-young Yoo) – whose lives change after a sudden family tragedy brings them together. Brian Tee plays Margaret’s husband, Clarke.

However, the show has been no stranger to controversy. Kidman’s quarantine-free entry from Sydney to Hong Kong to film in 2021 caused uproar, as inbound travellers at the time were required to undergo one to three weeks of mandatory hotel isolation as part of the government’s Covid-19 restrictions.
Either way, people are eager to see the show that will air in early 2024, according to Amazon Prime Video.
So what do we know about the man playing Kidman’s husband?
