Pacific Standard in Alila Bangsar, Malaysia

Perched atop the 41st floor of Alila Bangsar’s five-star building, Pacific Standard stands tall above the rest to provide unobstructed views of the vibrant district below and faraway high-rises sitting pretty against the night sky. Inside, the American-style lounge and bar channels the vintage glamour of 1950s Los Angeles, serving up clever cocktails tailored to different Hollywood themes and tastes.

Fine leather couches and an atmosphere filled with soulful jazz set the scene for a relaxing evening. Pacific Standard, which opened in May, is still Kuala Lumpur’s best-kept secret: every night is filled – but never crowded – with discerning patrons who are becoming regulars.

Il Bar in Bulgari Hotel Shanghai

For one of the most majestic views of Shanghai’s skyline, go to the new Bulgari Hotel’s 47th floor, where Il Bar still has its pristine sheen from its June opening. The hotel’s bar is a sleek space of polished wood and black leather furnishings. The oval bar counter is inspired by Rome’s Fontana della Barcaccia. Handcrafted bronze finished with mirrored steel enclose the Shanghainese rendition of the signature counter, making it a centrepiece to behold.

Sweeping views framed by floor-to-ceiling windows steal the show in Il Bar. You will be treated to beautiful panoramas of old and new Shanghai that stretch across the historical Bund and Huangpu River. For an even more enchanting experience, pick up your aperitif and head out onto the private outdoor terrace to enjoy the sunset and city’s colourful neon lights.
