It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – or it might if the temperature decides to drop another 10 degrees – and after the year we’ve had, we owe it to ourselves to thoroughly enjoy the festive season. If you’ve been put in charge of booking the Christmas meal for your friends, family or colleagues, here are the best blowout menus in town.
1. The Bayside
The Bayside is offering two festive Mediterranean menus – a seven-course Christmas Deluxe Dinner Menu (HK$458) and an eight-course Christmas Extravagant Dinner (HK$568), both available exclusively on December 24 and 25. The Deluxe dinner includes two starters, two warm tapas, two main courses and a festive dessert. The Extravagant set begins with 36-month Paletilla Iberico ham followed by foie gras on butter brioche, and Maryland crab cakes with wasabi mayo. Mains include lobster and dry-aged Wagyu, and the set finishes with a cheese plate and yule log cake.

2. Bifteck
Wan Chai’s premier spot for “beef-led dining” is offering carnivores a present this Christmas: a seven-course Bonne Fête à Bifteck menu, priced at HK$1,280 per person and available on December 24-26, 31 and January 1. The festivities commence with an amuse-bouche, a home-made brioche of beef and veal tartare topped with dry caviar, teamed with a red prawn and spot shrimp crispy roll that shines within a coat of citrus jelly and yogurt cream. The centrepiece of Bifteck’s festive feast is a Wagyu showdown: snow-aged A5 Wagyu plated against USDA Wagyu, which pits the sweetest tri-tip steak against the US heavyweight of prime: a juicy short rib.

3. The Butchers Club Grille
A three-course Christmas menu (HK$588) is available for dinner on Christmas Eve, and lunch and dinner on Christmas Day, at the Butchers Club Grille. The choice of starters includes a classic Caesar salad, creamy lobster bisque with a touch of cognac, or butter-baked crab cake served with red pepper remoulade. For mains, there is sea bass, linguine truffle carbonara and plenty of Butchers Club’s famous steak options – wet-aged Australian fillet, 30 days dry-aged USDA bone-in rib-eye, or 30 days dry-aged USDA porterhouse (for an extra HK$300).
