Euro 2020

  • England may have heartbreakingly missed out on the Euro 2020 trophy, but there’s one title they can’t lose – the tournament’s most valuable squad
  • But who earns the most, and how do they spend it? From Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho to Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka, we crunched the figures

It may be all tears and recriminations in the England football camp today, after the national team were heartbreakingly denied the Euro 2020 trophy, losing to Italy on penalties at Wembley Stadium late on Sunday night. But there’s one title no one can take away – the most expensive team in the tournament. According to pre-kick-off estimates, the 26-member squad is collectively worth an eye-watering US$1.63 billion to the teams they play for.

While they may be hot commodities on the transfer market, that’s not the same thing as a monthly pay packet. So how much of that wealth do the players actually see themselves, and who is worth the most?

Sterling previously had a sponsorship deal with Nike, featuring in various advertisement campaigns for the shoemaker. In May 2021, he signed up with American sports footwear brand New Balance.

And spending it? Sterling is no stranger to extravagant living, as per The Sun, he reportedly bought a US$4.1 million mansion with five luxurious bedrooms and three garages. His net worth is estimated at US$52.8 million.
