Jeju-born Korean idol and actress Joy has been in the spotlight since making a debut as part of Red Velvet in 2014. But today the girl group’s lead rapper and sub-vocalist not only excels within RV, but also in her solo activities – scoring top music awards nods and shining on TV screens alike.

 

As the singer born Park Soo-young turns 24 (or 25 in Korean ages) on September 3, here are some of her best moments from the past year to remember. Happy birthday, Joy!

Becoming a host of Get It Beauty

Alongside top fashion model Jang Yoon-ju, Joy made her debut as the main host of Get It Beauty on CJ E&M’s OnStyle channel.

She appeared in 33 episodes and continued to establish herself in the industry – nabbing her first make-up brand deal as the new muse for Amorepacific’s professional make-up brand, eSpoir.

Being cast in variety show, Handsome Tigers

Soon after her beauty programme debut, Joy was cast in Handsome Tigers, a basketball variety show where she became the manager of an all-celebrity basketball team.
