Blackpink’s Lisa loves Kemissara – here’s 4 hip Thai fashion designers, from Boyy to Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, putting Southeast Asian style on the map
From Karatphet Kem Issara’s Kemissara Studio to Wannasiri Kongman’s Boyy and Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana’s eponymous label, these bright young talents are putting Thailand’s fashion scene on the global style map
Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana’s Sirivannavari
Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana may only be 33 years old this year, but she has already presented her designs at Paris Fashion Week. At the invitation of couturier Pierre Balmain, she debuted her collection back in 2007, cementing her reputation in the fashion industry. Her eponymous Sirivannavari line focuses on regal designs that take cues from the elegant tastes and silhouettes of the royals themselves.
Karatphet Kem Issara’s Kemissara Studio
Coming from a wealthy real estate developer family, Karatphet is the daughter of Thailand’s Charn Issara Group CEO Songkran Issara. Like most designers on the list, Karatphet also cut her teeth overseas, as she began interning with major brands in New York, training with names such as Chloe and Diane von Furstenburg.
She believes in creating pieces that can take you from day to night, transitioning seamlessly with a busy woman’s lifestyle. When Lisa from K-pop’s Blackpink, from Thailand herself, went back to spend her holiday in Sri Panwa, Phuket she wore some fairy designs from Kemissara.
